RED RIBBON WEEK
Every year Machananao Elementary School promotes “Red Ribbon Week''. We honor and remember the sacrifices of Enrique Kiki Camarena. Our students will learn what types of dangerous substances are commonly used amongst the youth and we talk about the harmful effects and consequences.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will not be able to conduct school wide assemblies so we wanted to provide some great information about Red Ribbon Week and also give our students and parents an opportunity to join the nationwide Red Ribbon Contest. Please know that we do understand that there have been several challenges with the current online instruction experience and we know that the scheduled curriculum is a priority and the last thing that we want to do is add on additional things to do. This is all optional and dependent on your schedules.
Attached is this year's Red Ribbon Week activities that will occur between October 23-31, 2020 (official Red Ribbon Week NationWide). Please feel free to reach out to Mr. Santos (cssantos@gdoe.net) if you have any questions or concerns. Please see attached flyers for the nationwide contest along with "Who is Kiki Camarena" and the local Committee Event Schedule.

The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) is working on plans for the safe re-opening of schools in School Year (SY) 2020-2021. The GDOE is currently exploring various options based on available guidance from the Government of Guam, Executive Orders, and public health experts. The GDOE is seeking feedback from parents and families to better understand what is most important to our parents, guardians, and families as we work together to reopen schools this coming school year.
Your answers to this survey are anonymous and confidential and you can skip any question you are not comfortable answering or that may not apply to your child. If you have more than one child in your family, we recommend filling out this survey for each child, although doing so is not required. This survey will be available until July 3, 2020.
PLEASE NOTE: This survey aims to gather general information about parent/guardian perspectives on the re-opening of schools. This is separate and distinct from the “Distance Learning Model Registration form” families will be completing during registration and at the beginning of the school year.
